Gunmen have reportedly murdered Victor Onwubiko, a legal practitioner based in Imo State and a resident of Uturu in Abia state. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night while the lawyer was returning to Abia State University, Uturu, where he resides.
A source disclosed that the tragic event occurred along the Okigwe/Uturu road between 8 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, during a notable kidnapping incident.
He said, “A lawyer who was later identified as Barr. Victor Onwubiko was killed by gunmen along Okigwe Road. He is based in Okigwe town in Imo State but is a resident of Abia State University, Uturu.
“There have been a series of kidnappings and killings along the road, irrespective of the heavy security agents in the area.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident to the nation on Monday, said: “We are on top of the situation; I am going to issue a press statement on it.”
