Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga champions, made two offers for Ronald Araujo in January, according to Mundo Deportivo.
However, Barcelona turned down both proposals as they are not willing to sell the Uruguayan defender under any circumstances.
Barcelona remains resolute in retaining Ronald Araujo, rejecting Bayern Munich’s persistent efforts to acquire the talented 24-year-old defender. Even with financial challenges, Barcelona declined two substantial offers from Bayern during the January transfer window, totaling €90 million. Bayern initially approached Araujo’s agent with a direct offer of €70 million and an additional €20 million in variable payments. Despite the tempting economic boost, Barcelona held firm in rejecting the proposals, emphasizing their commitment to keeping Araujo within the current squad.

Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Ronald Araujo reached new levels as they presented a revised offer, increasing the fixed price to €80 million with an additional €10 million in variables. Despite Bayern’s persistent efforts, Barcelona remained steadfast in their refusal. The pursuit escalated to the point where Bayern’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, personally engaged in the signing process, reaching out to Araujo himself. This highlighted the depth of Bayern’s determination to secure the Uruguayan center-back.
Barcelona highly values Araujo, considering him a crucial player for both the present and future of the team. Known for his defensive reliability and leadership qualities, Araujo is esteemed by teammates on and off the field.
Despite rejecting Bayern Munich’s advances in January, Araujo’s contract runs until June 2026 with a substantial release clause of €1 billion.
However, Barcelona aims to mitigate any risks by initiating negotiations soon to extend Araujo’s contract, ensuring his long-term commitment to the club well before the end of next season.
