The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, will resume selling seized food items to vulnerable Nigerians after reviewing its operational modalities.
Comptroller General of the Service, Adewale Adeniyi at the sectoral debate series at the House of Representatives disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has instructed that food items confiscated at the Nigerian land borders should be sold directly to vulnerable Nigerians.
This directive aims to alleviate the challenge of hunger in the country.

He said: “The President wants us to sell food directly to poor Nigerians. These are foods made in Nigeria but were taken away. This is to help hungry people and solve the problem of not having enough food. We have already begun doing this in Lagos.
“The President also wants imported food seized by the Nigeria Customs Service to be sold again in local markets for Nigerians to buy.”
