Africa’s highest-ranked table-tennis player, Aruna Quadri, secured a second medal for Nigeria at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old Quadri faced Egypt’s Omar Assar in the final of the men’s table tennis singles event, where he narrowly lost 4-3.
The match was intense, showcasing the remarkable skills of both players and keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

Assar secured the first set 11-8, but Quadri, currently ranked 14th in the world, fought back strongly, winning the second and third sets 11-2, 11-2.
However, Assar rallied, taking the fourth set 11-7, before Quadri claimed the fifth set 11-9. In a thrilling conclusion, Assar won the last two sets 11-9, 11-0, securing the gold medal in the process.
Offiong Edem secured Nigeria’s first medal on Tuesday by winning the bronze medal in the women’s singles event.
