The 96th installment of the Oscars, the pinnacle of showbiz’s grand awards ceremonies, was filled with both intrigue and amusement.
One particularly amusing moment occurred when the iconic actor, Alfred Pacino, known affectionately as Al Pacino, took the stage to announce the winner of the Best Picture award.
The 83-year-old legend, often referred to as ‘the Godfather,’ broke protocol by promptly declaring the recipient of the Best Picture accolade without first presenting the nominees in the category, a departure from the customary procedure at the Oscars.
“I see Oppenheimer,” he said.
Oppenheimer was the talk of the show as the three-hour-long epic movie scooped seven awards, including the Best Actor, Best Director and Best Picture categories, amongst others.
The 2023 movie which was written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan, starred Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist credited with being the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ for his role in the Manhattan Project—the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons.

Here are the winners in key categories for the 96th Academy Awards, which were handed out in Hollywood on Sunday.
Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” was the big winner of the night with seven awards, while “Poor Things” — a female take on the Frankenstein story — won four.
