Two individuals suspected of being Islamists in the German state of Thuringia have been apprehended for allegedly plotting an attack involving firearms near the Swedish parliament.
Two Afghan nationals were detained near the city of Gera, according to a spokeswoman for the German prosecutors’ office on Tuesday.

They are accused of receiving instructions from an offshoot of the Islamic State terrorist group. The announcement was made by Germany’s federal prosecutors’ office in Karlsruhe, which represents the government.
The Free State of Thuringia , is a state of central Germany, covering 16,171 square kilometres (6,244 sq mi), the sixth smallest of the sixteen German states. It has a population of about 2.1 million.
