The Rivers State Police on Monday gunned down the notorious Greenland cult leader, Izuma Odiereke, also known as Solution, in a shootout in Ahoada Local Government Area, LGA, of Rivers.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, disclosed this through a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, noting that the suspected cult leader had been on the run since 2016 after being linked with multiply assassinations and unlawful killings in the state.

When operatives raided his camp located in a forest in the area, he reportedly opened fire and tried to escape but was subdued by superior firepower at about 4 am on Monday.

“Odiereke met his end during a gun battle with law enforcement officers at his camp in Api Forest between Odiereke Ubie and Joinkarama communities in Ahoada around 4 a.m. on Monday.

“Law enforcement officers have faced attacks by Odiereke and his cult group on several occasions, leading to his placement on our wanted list since 2016.

“Odiereke, a serial killer, was implicated in numerous killings and criminal acts that left his clan deserted.

“Nobody can fish. Nobody can go to the farm because of this man. He is kind of a kid in the jungle. He comes to town in Ahoada West in Ibiza Clan, to be precise.

“We are so happy that today, officers of the command led by the DOOR went after him, and luckily for us, they got him. So this is the end of the era of ‘General Solution’,” he said.

Disu stated that the deceased cult leader and his accomplices were responsible for the killing of a prominent traditional ruler in the state on Feb. 2.

“The command appreciates the Ahoada Area Command officers for ending Odiereke’s reign of terror.

“Nevertheless, officers are reminded to remain steadfast in maintaining peace and security in the region,” he urged.

Disu equally commended the community residents for providing valuable information that assisted law enforcement agents during the operation.

Meanwhile, there was a crowd of natives of both Ahoada East and West LGA who trooped out to cheer the Commissioner of Police and his team on the feat achieved.

The Chairman of Ahoada East LGA, Ben Eke, expressed happiness, saying “even if he is from Ahoada West and killed in Ahoada West, the criminality will reduce in my local government.”

Seji Ebenezer, Paramount Ruler of the Owube community, where the cult leader hails from, said “the community is so excited. The young man has been terrorising the community.

“He is a serial killer, kidnapper, and notorious cultist.”
