Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, and Modibbo Adama University, MAU, Adamawa, held their matriculation ceremonies, admitting a total of 12,126 newly enrolled students for the 2023/2024 academic session.
ABU welcomed 8,547 students, while MAU matriculated 3,579 students.
At ABU’s ceremony in Zaria, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala advised the incoming students to prioritize peace and exhibit exemplary conduct throughout their academic journey. He emphasized the importance of avoiding social vices such as exam malpractice, substance abuse, inappropriate attire, and other undesirable behaviors.
Prof, Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, the deputy vice-chancellor, who represented Prof, Kabiru at the event, reiterated the university’s commitment to providing the best academic experience to its students.
Similarly, Prof. Abdullahi Liman Tukur, the vice-chancellor of MAU, said the 3,579 newly matriculated students were admitted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry processes.
He encouraged the students to use social media responsibly, steer clear of vices such as drug abuse and cultism, familiarize themselves with institutional policies, including those on examination malpractice and dressing, and utilize the guidance and counselling unit for support and assistance.
