Erdogan’s agenda is expected to include a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, according to a presidential official . This meeting would mark the first official encounter between Erdogan and Biden in Washington since Biden’s election in 2020.

The planned visit follows U.S. approval for the sale of 40 F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, a decision that came after Ankara ratified Sweden’s accession to NATO. Despite these developments, there are still unresolved issues between the two NATO allies, including U.S. support for Syrian Kurdish militia, which Ankara considers as terrorists.
