Police in Bauchi arrest garden egg seller for sodomizing mental patient

The Bauchi State Police command has arrested a 23-year-old garden egg seller, Sanusi Umar for allegedly sodomizing a mentally-disabled 10-year-old boy.

The suspect lured the boy with N30 worth of sweets. Umar was apprehended by officers attached to Operation Restore Peace, ORP, Bauchi State on March 28 at 21:00hrs, according to SP Ahmed Wakil, the Police Spokesperson in Bauchi state.

“On March 28, at 2100hrs, officers from Bauchi State’s Operation Restore Peace, ORP, arrested the 23-year-old man.

“The suspect lured the minor with a thirty naira, N30, sweet and asked the victim to accompany him to an isolated area behind the AIB filling station on Kofar Ran, where he sodomized him,” he said.

He stated that the minor was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where various tests were performed on him to determine his health status. He said the investigation was still ongoing.

He stated that the suspect would be charged in court after the investigations were completed.
