The Kano State Government has implemented a ban on films depicting hoodlums and cross-dressing, citing concerns over the promotion of deviant behavior among youths.

Abba El-Mustapha, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, announced the ban following a meeting with stakeholders from the Kannywood industry. The decision aims to address the production of films that may encourage criminal activities and deviant behaviors among young people.

A one-month deadline has been set for all productions containing content related to hooliganism and transvestitism to comply with the ban.

This measure, he said, underscores the government’s attempts to regulate film material and ensure it aligns with social Recall that the Nigeria Police Force announced on Tuesday that it was unable to arrest popular cross-dresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, despite calls to do so.There have been calls for Bobrisky’s arrest, particularly when social media personality and blogger Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, recently condemned the cross-dresser’s Best Dressed Female award at a Nollywood event.

However, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Ademola told Channels TV on Tuesday that cross-dressers could not be arrested because there was no law against cross-dressing in Nigeria.

He also said there is no evidence to support claims that cross-dressers also belong to the LGBTQ+ community.
