Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc, AEDC, has issued an apology to customers who were wrongly charged under the new tariff regime, attributing the error to a system glitch.
The company acknowledged that some customers in Band A were incorrectly charged the new tariff of N225 per Kilowatt Hour when they attempted to recharge their meters. This was a result of a system malfunction caused by the reclassification of certain Band A customers to Band B due to their electricity consumption patterns over recent weeks.

AEDC assured affected customers that their excess charges would be refunded and that efforts were underway to identify all those impacted by the glitch.
“The situation also saw some Band A customers who are now charged N225 vend at the old rate. Once the glitch is resolved, this category of customers will now recharge their meters at the new rate of N225, which will ensure they enjoy a minimum supply of 20 hours daily.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during this change. We remain committed to improving the power supply to all categories of customers, and we crave your understanding and support as we do this.
