President Bola Tinubu has announced end of probe into the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, even as he lauded Jim Obazee for his services as the Special Investigator of the CBN and other related entities.
The President commended Obazee, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, for successfully concluding his assignment.
In a statement by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale on Friday in Abuja, Tinubu praised Obazee for the dedication and professionalism he exercised “in handling the complexities of this critical national assignment”.
The President said the investigations had been formally closed and all appropriate law enforcement and regulatory agencies were already conducting follow-up actions.
He added that with the submission of a final comprehensive report and the winding up of all apparatus used during the scope of the task the assignment terminated on March 31.

“President Bola Tinubu thanks Mr Jim Obazee, former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, for his services as the Special Investigator of the Central Bank of Nigeria and other related entities, upon his appointment on July 28, 2023.
“The President commends Mr. Obazee for the dedication and professionalism he exercised in handling the complexities of this critical national assignment.
“Subsequent to the conclusion of the assignment and the submission of a final comprehensive report, and with the winding up of all apparatuses used during the scope of the task which terminated on March 31, 2024, the investigation is formally closed, with all appropriate law enforcement and regulatory agencies already conducting follow-up action,” the statement read.
The President thanked Obazee for answering the call to duty and wished him success in his future endeavours.
