The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, has issued a stern warning to supermarkets and grocery stores within the state regarding the omission of price tags on products.
This cautionary stance seeks to uphold transparency and safeguard consumers against potential price exploitation. The absence of price tags can lead to confusion and inconvenience during transactions, undermining consumer rights and contravening the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Law.
Mr. Afolabi Solebo, the General Manager of LASCOPA, emphasized the significance of adhering to regulations, highlighting that the lack of price tags deprives consumers of the necessary information to make informed purchasing decisions.
He reiterated that such practices are in direct violation of the Consumer Protection Act, which mandates the clear display of prices for goods and services. Solebo emphasized that failure to comply with the law would result in fines as stipulated by consumer protection laws.
