Former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele currently facing multiple challenges, appeared at the Ikeja High Court in Lagos.
Emefiele was arraigned to face charges related to alleged misuse of his position and allocation of billions of dollars. Accompanied by co-defendant Henry Isioma Omole, Emefiele is set to face 26 fresh charges presented by Justice Rahman Oshodi.
In the charge sheet dated April 3, 2024, under reference ID/23787c/2024, Emefiele was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,with abusing his authority in Lagos during the period of 2022 to 2023.

The commission claimed that Emefiele “directed to be done in abuse of the authority of your office, as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, an arbitrary act, to wit: allocating foreign exchange in the aggregate sum of $2,136,391,737.33 without bids, which act is prejudicial to the rights of Nigerians.”
