The National Emergency Management Agency, on Monday, distributed relief items to residents with disabilities who were affected by a recent fire incident in a community on the outskirts of Abuja.
NEMA disclosed this in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Monday.
The statement read, “following a fire incident that ravaged a community in the outskirt of Abuja City Centre with many persons living with disabilities, the National Emergency Management Agency, today distributed relief items to the affected persons in providing them with succour.

“She said the relief were provided by NEMA following request by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities for the agency to support them after the fire incident at Karmojiji that destroyed their homes, degraded their livelihoods and had subjected them to more hardship.
“She also extended the sympathy of the agency to those affected by the fire and appreciated the collaboration of stakeholders towards providing them with the much desired succour.
“In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of NCPWD, Dr David Lalu, appreciated NEMA for coming to the aid of the fire incident with the distribution of the relief items.
“The items distributed were bags of rice, foam mattresses, wax prints, brocades, children, women and men’s wears. Others were blankets, plastic buckets, plates cups and spoons. ”
The statement added that some of the beneficiaries requested more support to enable them to become self-reliant.
