The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra Command, has deployed 951 personnel to provide security at Eid prayer grounds ahead of Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

This deployment aims to ensure security coverage for lives and critical government infrastructure during the celebrations, according to NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Olatunde Maku, as stated in a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Edwin Okadigbo, in Awka on Monday.

“The deployment of 951 personnel across the state is a move to tighten the noose around criminals and their henchmen.

“It is a proactive and robust anti- crime measure to prevent any untoward incidents in and around the state as well as ensure that miscreants and disgruntled elements do not take advantage of the occasion to perpetrate criminality,” he said.

Maku said that its personnel would be at the Eid- prayer grounds, recreational spots and at locations of critical government infrastructure.

He urged residents to be vigilant, observe security and safety tips, and collaborate with NSCDC and other security agencies by promptly reporting any incident to avert any breach of peace in the state.

He also enjoined groups and individuals not to engage in any act capable of breaching peace in the state.

Maku congratulated the Muslim Ummah on successfully completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged them to show love, trust, and respect for one another and people of other faiths.

He also advised Muslims to internalise the lessons learned during Ramadan in order to promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
