The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has taken decisive action, suspending all forms of riverine filming indefinitely.
The decision is following the tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope and three crew members.
President Emeka Rollas announced in a circular dated April 11, 2024, and shared on social media, that all film productions involving riverine areas and boat rides are suspended until further notice.

Moreover, actors are prohibited from participating in any films produced by Adanma Luke, including the movie “The Other Side of Life,” in which Junior Pope was starring before his untimely death.
“Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap… all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely… The film titled ‘The Other Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely,” the statement partly read.
Rollas emphasized, “While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.”
The devastating incident happened on Wednesday, where Junior Pope and three crew members lost their lives while traveling by boat away from the film set.
Initially, the AGN president had shared a post indicating that Junior Pope survived and was receiving treatment, but he later deleted the post.
