Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, an ex-Senator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Kwara State, has passed on.
Rafiu died early Wednesday in Abuja following a brief illness, according to a family statement.
He represented Kwara South District in the 8th National Assembly. During the eighth Assembly, he chaired the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
The family statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our dear father, uncle, and brother, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim.
“Senator Rafiu returned to his creator this morning, leaving a legacy of commitment, service, and significant effect. “We kindly ask for your prayers and assistance during this difficult time. His burial plans will be communicated in due time.
“We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

Former Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Prof. Ali Ahmad expressed deep shock over the passing of Senator Ibrahim.
Ahmad, in a statement by his spokesperson, Steve Makinde, described Senator Rafiu as a great man whose dedication to personal development and philanthropy knew no bounds.
He added that his passing had left a huge void in the hearts of many people.
The statement reads: “I received with shock the sad news of the passing of our beloved PDP Chieftain, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who was said to be full of life just yesterday.
“Throughout his lifetime, Senator Rafiu has used his quest for personal development, scholarship, and philanthropy as a politician to put smiles on the faces of Kwara youths with the vibrant discharge of his role as the representative of his constituents. He was a loyal and great man.
“His passing is not only a loss to his friends, family, and associates, but also to the Saraki Dynasty, in which he impacted many lives, the Kwara youth constituency, and the nation at large. No doubt, he lived a fulfilled life worth emulating. His legacies will be forever cherished and missed.
“I pray the families, friends, and associates of Senator Rafiu find solace in the enduring legacies he left behind. My heart and that of my family go to his family, friends, and entire Saraki dynasty.”
