Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, will be eager to continue their quest for a spot in the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup as they take on Burkina Faso in the upcoming qualifying fixture scheduled to hold in Bamako, Mali on Saturday, May 11.

The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup first leg qualifying encounter was initially scheduled for Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou, but the world body has now ruled that the venue is not up to standard.

The decision has seen the Burkinabes opt for the March 26 Stadium, Bamako.

Following their dominant 6-0 victory over Central African Republic in their previous qualifying encounter, the Nigerian girls are brimming with confidence and will be aiming for another commanding performance against Burkina Faso.

The Flamingos’ delegation to Bamako will depart Abuja on Wednesday, 8th May.

The return leg will come up at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, May 18.

The overall winners of the two-legged encounter will secure a place at the U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos finished third at the last edition of the competition hosted by India.

With their eyes set on securing a place in the prestigious tournament slated for October in the Dominican Republic, the Flamingos are determined to maintain their winning momentum.
