Ibadan Industrialist and philanthropist, Chief Raymond Zard has passed on at 86.
The Babalaje of Ibadan land and Chairman of Zard Group of Companies, who owns Zartech Farms, Kopek Construction Limited, Vina International Limited, Ibadan International School and Sweetco Foods Limited reportedly died in The Netherlands on Sunday.
Details have not emerged on the last moments of the octogenarian but tributes are pouring in from Nigerians on the life and times of the deceased.
Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, while reacting to the demise of the Ibadan chief, described his death as a significant loss, not only to Ibadan land, but to the entire country.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC- Oyo South) described the passing of Zard as a significant loss not only to Ibadanland but to the entire nation.
Alli said that the late Zard until his death, demonstrated unparalleled leadership and vision.
“His conglomerate, comprising several companies in Nigeria, was a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic development,” he said.
The lawmaker and Maye Balogun of Ibadanland said that Zard’s contributions left an indelible mark on the industrial landscape of Nigeria.

He said that beyond the late Zard’s business acumen, he was a revered traditional Chief, holding the prestigious title of Babalaje of Ibadanland.
Alli said that Zard’s dedication to cultural and social upliftment of the community was evident in his actions and philanthropy.
He described him as a beacon of progress and an embodiment of selfless service to humanity.
“As we mourn his loss, we must also celebrate his life and legacy. Chief Zard’s numerous contributions to both the business world and our society at large will continue to inspire future generations.
“His memory will remain etched in our hearts as a symbol of excellence and benevolence,” he said.
Alli expressed deepest sympathies to the Zard family, friends and associates, praying Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.
