Suspected Gunmen have attacked a military checkpoint on Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Ebonyi Police Command confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.
The states’ Police Public Relations, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday in the area.
He said the information reaching us from Owutu Police Division reveals that some hoodlums attacked a military checkpoint on Friday morning.

“It is not yet certain if there were casualties. The attack was carried out by suspected gunmen in the area, who operated with motorcycles,” he added.
However an eyewitness said the attack was carried out in the early hours of Friday by gunmen who operated on a motorcycle.
The eyewitness said a soldier and one of the gunmen were killed during a gun battle which caused panic and apprehension among residents, motorists and commuters plying the road.
He said commuters had to spend hours waiting before they continued their movement after normalcy returned to the area.
