The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, and the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service have emerged tops in the latest report of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC.

The President’s Special Adviser on PEBEC, Dr Jumoke Oduwole while unveiling the 2024 Half-Year Transparency and Efficiency Report of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, disclosed that NCDMB scored 83.1 percent, followed by the SON with 78.2 percent and the Quarantine Service which scored 74.8 percent.

Oduwole highlighted a notable increase in the number of MDAs achieving scores above 50 percent, rising from eight in 2023 to 20 in 2024. This growth reflects a positive trend in compliance with efficiency standards.

She underscored the necessity for continued advancements in service delivery to further improve Nigeria’s business environment. Oduwole attributed the progress to the Federal Government’s first 90-day regulatory reform accelerator, which was launched on February 20 and has significantly contributed to these performance gains.

Oduwole also pointed out that MDAs that consistently submitted monthly transparency reports showed better results in the reform initiative.

Despite the progress made, she acknowledged that challenges persist in the business climate. She called for strengthened collaboration among MDAs to create a more competitive and favorable environment for business growth in Nigeria.

Reiterating PEBEC’s dedication to driving reforms, Oduwole emphasized the Council’s commitment to enhancing effectiveness, transparency, and cooperation among MDAs to make Nigeria an increasingly favorable place to start and expand businesses.
