The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, announced on Friday that it is seeking reputable and credible Operations and Maintenance, O&M, companies to manage the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company. The disclosure was made via an official statement on the company’s X handle.

The Warri Refinery, located in Delta State, was commissioned in 1978 and serves as a critical hub for supplying petroleum products to the southern and southwestern regions of Nigeria. This complex conversion refinery boasts a nameplate distillation capacity of 6.25 million metric tons per annum, equivalent to 125,000 barrels per day. The refinery also includes a petrochemical plant, commissioned in 1988, with the capacity to produce 13,000 MTA of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black.

The Kaduna Refinery, which began operations in 1980, was originally designed to meet the petroleum needs of Northern Nigeria. The refinery’s initial capacity was 50,000 barrels per day but expansions in 1983 and 1986 increased its capacity to 110,000 barrels per day. The upgrades included the addition of a second crude train for producing lubricating oils and the expansion of the first crude train to 60,000 barrels per day.

NNPC Ltd’s searches for qualified O&M companies, underscores its commitment to enhancing the performance and efficiency of these refineries, which are vital to Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
