Suspected Boko Haram insurgents unleashed terror in Mafa village, located in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, looting and burning shops and houses. The attack, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday, has left the community in disarray, with multiple casualties feared.

Spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday. He revealed that the attack was reported by local residents, Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim, to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station.

According to Abdulkarim, the assailants, armed with rifles and RPGs, stormed Mafa on more than 50 motorcycles, indiscriminately setting ablaze numerous shops and homes. “The terrorists killed many people, but we are yet to ascertain the actual number of casualties,” he stated.

The attackers also left behind fliers with Arabic inscriptions, further deepening the sense of fear and uncertainty in the area. This attack comes on the heels of another tragic incident on Friday, where terrorists targeted a private school in nearby Geidam, killing three students and injuring another.
