In a significant humanitarian effort, Qatar has donated $4.5 million to support over 4,400 Palestinian refugees stranded in the West Bank since the Gaza conflict began in October last year.
This aid, facilitated through a partnership between the Qatar Red Crescent and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, UNRWA, aims to provide vital cash assistance to Palestinian workers and patients who have been unable to return to Gaza due to ongoing Israeli aggression and the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The agreement, signed on Sunday, underscores the dire situation faced by thousands of Palestinian refugees who remain trapped in the West Bank, separated from their families and livelihoods. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini highlighted the critical nature of this support, stating that “thousands of Palestine refugees from Gaza remain trapped in the West Bank, trapped in this crisis situation, stranded from their loved ones and livelihoods.”
The funding will help alleviate the suffering of those displaced, who have been forced to seek essential services such as medical care, education, and employment in the West Bank due to the heavily restricted movement in and out of Gaza. This donation is part of Qatar’s broader efforts to support Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict, demonstrating the country’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid in critical times.
