Hamas has reiterated its demand for a permanent end to Israeli military actions and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, dismissing U.S. claims that its proposed amendments are hindering the process.
Hamas officials have emphasized that any ceasefire agreement must result in a lasting cessation of Israel’s war on Gaza, accusing the United States of merely providing a delay for Israel to continue its military operations. The group has also criticized the U.S. for not persuading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to the original terms proposed by President Joe Biden.

The U.S., along with mediators from Egypt and Qatar, has been pushing for a three-phase ceasefire plan that includes an initial six-week truce, the release of hostages, and the eventual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. However, Hamas’s insistence on a permanent ceasefire and full Israeli withdrawal has created significant hurdles in the negotiations.
As the conflict enters its tenth month, with over 40,000 reported deaths in Gaza and ongoing violence along the Israeli-Lebanese border, international pressure is mounting for a resolution. Despite these challenges, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken continues to engage in diplomatic efforts, meeting with leaders in Egypt and Qatar to advance the ceasefire plan.
