The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has shut Donald’s Fast Food, owned by Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana chief priest, for violating environmental regulations.

Located on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki Phase 1, the restaurant was sealed for persistent noise pollution and other infractions despite repeated warnings and abatement notices.

The closure was confirmed by Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, through a social media post on Sunday.

“After several warnings and abatement notices, LASEPA sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1 over noise pollution and other environmental infractions”, the post read.

Before its official opening on August 14, Cubana chief priest, took to Instagram to express his excitement about the new venture, Donald’s Fast Food. He shared with his followers, “we are still working. We’ll announce our opening dates soon, Lagos. Thanks so much for the love, but we’ll be ready to serve you with all our strength”.

This shutdown is coming few days after the restaurant hosted Davido and other celebrities in its official opening party.

In his remarks, the ‘Timeless’ hitmaker expressed his admiration for Cubana chief priest, stating, “I’m proud of you.” Despite the support, as of the time of this report, Cubana chief priest is yet to issue a public statement regarding the closure of his restaurant by LASEPA due to noise pollution and environmental infractions.

In 2023, LASEPA also shutdown a popular nightclub, known as Silk Club in Ikoyi, for noise pollution.

The main thrust of LASEPA is to protect and improve the environment, assist public and private organizations, industries, businesses and non-governmental organizations to achieve compliance by providing environment-friendly solutions to varied environmental challenges.

LASEPA’s vision is to build a portfolio of sound environmental management programmes and projects in the development of a sustainable environment in conjunction with other arms of Government, regulatory organizations and international agencies.
