Controversial crossdresser and social media sensation, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, has initiated legal proceedings against internet activist, Martins Vincent Otse, alias VeryDarkMan seeking ₦1 billion in damages for defamation.

The lawsuit arises from a controversial audio recording that VeryDarkMan shared online, which allegedly features Bobrisky claiming to have bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

In a formal letter issued by his lawyer, R.T. Omuvwie & Co., Bobrisky specifically denied the authenticity of the audio clip, asserting that it was artificially generated using advanced AI technology. He described the recording as a malicious fabrication designed to tarnish his public image and personal life.

Credible News reports tha the contentious audio has provoked huge media attention, with VeryDarkMan’s claims suggesting that Bobrisky engaged in corrupt practices involving high-ranking officials. However, Bobrisky’s legal team argues that such allegations are unfounded and have resulted in considerable harm to their client’s reputation and brand.

In the letter, Bobrisky demands that VeryDarkMan retract the AI-generated audio and all related defamatory statements immediately. Additionally, he is insisting on a public apology to be published in two national newspapers and across all of VeryDarkMan’s social media platforms.

He gave a 24-hour deadline for compliance, warning that failure to meet his demands will lead to further legal action.

The letter states: “You have made reckless and unfounded statements, including hearsay that you cannot prove, against our client, disregarding his mental health and general well-being.”

It further emphasizes that the allegations not only violate Bobrisky’s right to privacy but also threaten his safety and well-being.

This legal battle comes at a time when the EFCC is under scrutiny for alleged corruption, with House of Representatives members initiating an investigation into the bribery claims made by VeryDarkMan.

The ongoing controversy highlights broader concerns regarding the integrity of Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies and the impact of social media on public perception.

Nigerians expect a lengthy legal confrontation as the protagonists seek to clear their names.
