Eight persons were feared killed on Thursday when their helicopter crashed in Port Harcourt.
The victims are oil workers going to location.
The incident took place at 11:22 a.m. over the waterways in Port Harcourt when a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, registered as 5NBQG and operated by East Wind Aviation, was traveling from the Port Harcourt Military Base DNPM to the Nuimantan oil rig.
Odutayo Oluseyi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development said that there were eight people on board. The aircraft went down into the waters near Bonny Finima in the Atlantic Ocean, prompting authorities to initiate rescue efforts.

The ministry has informed the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau and nearby aerodromes, stating that search and rescue operations have begun with the assistance of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other relevant agencies.
“While no Emergency Locator Transmitter signal was received, manual efforts to determine the accident location are underway. All available resources, including the military and low-flying aircraft, have been deployed to assist in locating and rescuing any survivors. So far, three bodies have been recovered,” the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo said.
Keyamo extended his condolences to the families of those on board. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those on board, and we are committed to providing the necessary support during this difficult time.”
