After months of anticipation, the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony finally crowned soccer’s best players, clubs and managers, of which Manchester City midfielder Rodri claimed the prestigious award, finishing ahead of Real Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in a historic triumph that marks the pinnacle of his inspiring journey.
After receiving his award, the Spanish international reflected on the uncertain path that led him to football’s highest individual honour.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or nominees features the sport’s biggest superstars, including Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior, Manchester City’s Rodri and Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmatí, but only a select few can leave the Théâtre du Châtelet with an award.
Though the Ballon d’Or trophy headlined the ceremony, but the Kopa Trophy, the Yashin Trophy and more are all prestigious honors that go to the sport’s top players.
