A tragic accident on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Sunday resulted in four individuals suffering varying degrees of injury when a Mazda commercial bus collided with a Toyota car.
The incident, which occurred near the Agbo-Malu Bus Stop on the Age-Mowo axis of the expressway, was confirmed by William Manga, the unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Badagry, in an interview on Monday.
In line with Commander Manga, the FRSC personnel were promptly alerted about the accident and arrived at the scene just three minutes later, at 3:23 p.m. The collision involved a Mazda commercial bus bearing the registration number ABJ 95 YJ and a Toyota car with the registration number KTU 339 YJ, both traveling from Badagry.

In total, 18 individuals were involved in the unfortunate accident, but only four sustained injuries that required medical attention. The injured parties were swiftly transported to the General Hospital in Badagry for treatment, ensuring they received the care they needed as quickly as possible.
Commander Manga indicated that the primary cause of the accident was attributed to dangerous driving by the two vehicle operators. Following the collision, both vehicles were removed from the scene and taken to the FRSC office in Badagry for further assessment and processing.
In light of the incident, Manga took the opportunity to issue a plea to passengers traveling in vehicles, urging them to consistently remind drivers about the importance of adhering to safe driving practices, particularly the dangers of speeding. He also emphasized the need for all motorists using the road to remain vigilant and conscious of their speed, especially on the one-lane expressway, to prevent similar accidents in the future. This incident serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving behavior for everyone on the road.
