A powerful explosion occurred on Tuesday morning in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, near the densely populated Terminus market area.

Security agencies, including the police, fire department, and ambulance teams, responded quickly to the scene to provide rescue operations.

The incident took place around 10 a.m., and while the exact number of casualties and the extent of the damage remain unclear, several individuals are reported to have been injured, with some sources suggesting possible fatalities. Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor in the area, described the scene, saying, “I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying.”

Authorities at the Plateau State Police Command confirmed the explosion and stated that investigations are underway to determine the cause. “The area has been cordoned off as investigators begin to assess the situation. We are working to determine the cause of the explosion. We urge calm and assure the public that we will do everything possible to ensure their safety.”

This recent explosion has intensified security concerns in the area, with residents urging authorities to increase protective measures. Jos has witnessed recurring violence and unrest over the years, and this incident has heightened calls for a stronger security presence to safeguard the public.

Local authorities have responded by deploying emergency response teams, including police and fire departments, while investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blast.
