Dr. Emeka Christian, Chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Ebute Meta Chapter, has urged doctors to prioritize their own health and mental well-being to ensure effective patient care.
Speaking at the MDCAN 2024 Annual Scientific Conference and General Meeting, themed “Physicians Heal Thyself,” Christian emphasized that the demanding nature of the medical profession often leads doctors to neglect their personal health, a situation exacerbated by the current shortage of medical professionals.
Christian noted: “Doctors are dying due to stress, and with the ongoing shortage of professionals, this issue has only become more critical. It is essential that doctors ensure they are healthy first to better care for others.”
