In an effort to maintain peace in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Ododo convened an emergency security meeting in Lokoja.
The meeting followed allegations that a Fulani settler was killed by members of the Isanlu community, raising tensions in the area.
According to a statement by State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ododo returned to the state from Abuja to address the escalating security concerns personally.
The governor met with leaders from both the Isanlu community and the Fulani settlers, urging them to embrace peace and avoid reprisals. He emphasized that the government would not tolerate lawlessness, vowing that those responsible for the killing would face justice.

Governor Ododo also directed the interrogation of traditional rulers from the affected areas to uncover the root cause of the conflict and ordered the suspension of a particular traditional ruler for his involvement in the incident.
“I will protect everyone living in Kogi State, but no criminal will be spared,” Ododo stated, urging community leaders to report and hand over criminal elements to law enforcement agencies.
He commended the Fulani community for demonstrating restraint and thanked them for supporting the state’s security initiatives. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across the state.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, security agencies, and community representatives, including the Chairman of Yagba East Local Government, Hon. Dare Joshua, who applauded the governor’s swift intervention in averting a potential crisis.
