The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Dr Aminu Maida has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Communications, IIC.

His career includes working with leading organizations such as British Telecom, Cisco Systems, and EE Ltd. Additionally, he was part of the engineering team at UbiquiSys Ltd., a small-cell technology firm that was later acquired by Cisco Systems.
Before his role at the NCC, Dr. Maida served as the Executive Director of Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC, NIBSS. There, he played a crucial role in modernizing Nigeria’s digital payments system, which became a vital part of the nation’s financial infrastructure.
Dr. Maida’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge Judge Business School.
With his extensive experience and track record of driving innovation, Dr. Maida’s appointment to the IIC board is expected to enhance global collaboration and development in the telecommunications and media industries.
