Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has officially signed the state’s 2025 budget into law, titled ‘Building Your Future II’ during a ceremony held at the Government House in Katsina on Wednesday.

The initial proposed budget of ₦682.2 billion saw an increase of ₦10 billion following a review by the state’s House of Assembly, bringing the total budget to ₦692.2 billion. Governor Radda had presented the budget proposal on November 25, 2024.

At the signing, Governor Radda praised the state assembly for their commitment to passing a budget focused on driving developmental goals for the upcoming year. He also acknowledged the contributions of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies , MDAs, in formulating a practical and effective financial plan for the state.

Radda highlighted that the 2025 budget prioritizes capital development, with recurrent expenditure now making up just 22.8% of the total budget, down from 28% the previous year. Capital projects, on the other hand, account for over 77% of the budget.

This shift reflects his administration’s focus on infrastructure, education, and agriculture as key areas for fostering self-reliance, improving living standards, and alleviating poverty in the state.

“The 2025 budget is a continuation of our progress in 2024 and sets the stage for future development,” Radda said.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Daura, emphasized the thoroughness of the budget’s review process. He disclosed that the additional ₦10 billion was identified during budget defense sessions with MDAs.

This revision ensures that the budget more effectively meets the needs of the people, Daura said, noting that the increased appropriation of ₦692.2 billion provides a robust framework for improving living conditions and promoting statewide development.

The Speaker also expressed his confidence in the Governor’s dedication to the well-being of Katsina residents and assured that the budget’s implementation would lead to significant progress in 2025.

The budget continues to prioritize education, agriculture, and other vital sectors, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to advancing the state’s economic and social infrastructure.
