New winners have emerged in the latest 2024 oil licensing bid round held at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, unveiled the bidders yesterday for no fewer than 25 oil blocks that are available for exploration and production.
31 oil blocks, according to the Commission Chief Executive, NUPRC, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe were offered for bidding.
He explained that the bidding process was in line with Section 7(t) of the Petroleum Industry Act which empowers the NUPRC to conduct periodic bidding rounds for the award of Petroleum Prospecting Licenses, PPLs, and Petroleum Mining Leases, PMLs.
The commission stated that it has begun recovery of idle oil blocks while announcing a fresh oil licensing round for 2025.
In the PPL 269 category, Petroli Energy Marketing and Supply Limited outscored Afagaf Company Limited.
Sahara Deepwater Resources Limited emerged victorious in the PPL 270 bid, outperforming AMG Exploration and Production Limited.
The company also claimed the PPL 271 license, beating RBO Energy Services Limited and Kalm Marine Petroleum Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited.
For PPL 2000/2001, Total energies clinched the win with 126 points, narrowly surpassing Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, which scored 125 points.

BISWAL Oil and Gas, First E & P Development Company, Dewayles International Limited, Applefield Oil and Gas Limited, and First E & P Development Company Limited emerged as the sole bidders and winners for PPLs 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, respectively.
Similarly, R28 Holdings Limited, Tulcan Energy E & P Company Limited, and Oceangate Engineering Oil and Gas Limited won the bids for PPLs 2007, 2008, and 3007.
In the PPL 2009 category, Broron Energy Limited triumphed over Star Deepwater Petroleum Resources Ltd. For PPLs 3011, 3012, 3015, 3016, and 3017, the licenses went to sole bidders R28 Holdings, Tulcan Energy E & P Company Limited, Panout Oil and Gas, Hakilat Oil and Gas Consortium Ltd, and Applefield Oil and Gas, respectively.
