Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has provided 100 truckloads of rice to the state’s resident as part of his efforts to ensure a joyous Christmas and New Year celebrations for families. This information was shared in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, on Friday in Lokoja.

Fanwo explained that this gesture is aimed at easing the burden of increased food price during the holiday season. He emphasised that the initiatives reflects the governor’s dedication to the welfare of Kogi residents.

“In addition to this, the governor approved the payment of salaries to civil servants on December 14. The governor continues to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people, staying true to promise to defend and promote the interests of Kogi’s citizens.”

He further noted that to ensure fair distribution, the governor has tasked the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation with overseeing the process and prevent political interference.

“Precautions have been put in place to avoid any hijacking of the distribution by politicians or other interest groups. This administration is committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in all its initiative,” Fanwo added.

The rice distribution is part of a wider effort by Ododo’s government to ease the economic strain on Kogi residents, particularly during the holiday season. “This initiative further strengthens his reputation as a leader who is genuinely attuned to the needs of his people,” he said.

Residents have expressed their gratitude, with many praising the governor’s efforts, calling him a leader committed to his people. Mr. Andrew Abah, a resident of Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, commended the governor’s efforts, describing him as a leader with an unwavering commitment to his people.

“This governor has proven himself to be a capable and caring leader. He is inclusive and dedicated to the well-being of both civil servants and ordinary citizens, making it difficult for anyone to dislike him,” Abah concluded.
