Mason Mount is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines, further complicating his already difficult season at Manchester United.
Since joining Old Trafford from Chelsea in July of the previous year, Mount has struggled with a combination of poor form and recurring injuries, which have severely limited his impact on the pitch.
The 25-year-old England international has only made 32 appearances for United, scoring just one goal and starting a mere nine Premier League games.
Mount’s latest setback came during last week’s Manchester derby, which United won 2-1. Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed that Mount would be out for several weeks, although the exact duration remains unclear. “I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for a long time,” Amorim said, adding, “That’s football, and we move forward.”
Despite the setback, Amorim emphasized his support for Mount’s recovery and highlighted the player’s recent improvements in form. “What I can do is help Mase by teaching him how to adapt to our game during his recovery. We’ll use this time for him to think about different aspects of the game,” he said.

However, Amorim acknowledged the challenges posed by a busy fixture schedule, which restricts the team’s ability to engage in full training sessions. “We’re always travelling, playing matches, and training is limited. It’s hard to recreate the game environment for players returning from injury,” he noted.
In other team news, Marcus Rashford is expected to be available for Sunday’s home match against Bournemouth after missing both the Manchester derby and Thursday’s 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Amorim also dismissed recent rumors suggesting that Rashford had disciplinary issues, after the forward made a statement indicating he was “ready for a new challenge” regarding his future at the club.
Despite sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, Amorim is optimistic about United’s progress.
“I think we are improving near the opponent’s box,” he said. “You can see we are creating threats, taking shots, and being more dynamic. Our team is pressing better, improving physically, and understanding the game more. These are positive signs.”
