The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm holiday greetings to Nigerians, encouraging them to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity during this festive season.
“The Christmas season offers an opportunity for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening family and community ties, fostering harmony that contributes to the nation’s progress.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Dr. Tunji-Ojo said “the Federal Government is dedicated to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.”
He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would lead Nigeria toward greater prosperity in 2025.
