The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has dissolved the Executive Committee of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, PRCAN.
The association, previously led by Mr. Israel Jaiye Opayemi was dissolved in accordance with the provisions of the NIPR’s law.
During its 117th meeting on Thursday, December 19, the council had a comprehensive review of PRCAN’s operations and took the decision to dissolve the leadership, citing as major reasons, issues of tenure elongation, declining performance, and among others, the need to revitalize and reposition the association to align with the NIPR’s strategic objectives.
Equally, the NIPR has appointed Nkechi Ali-Balogun, Ph.D, a fellow and founder/CEO, NECCI Consults as Chairman, Council Committee on Revitalization of PRCAN with a mandate to oversee the activities of PRCAN and conduct free and fair election not later than 30th April, 2025.

“PRCAN Revitalization Committee, which was inaugurated has the following as members: Barr. Karibi George, fnipr, Dr Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr, Hajia Lami Tumaka, fnipr, Mr. Chido Nwakanma, mnipr, and Mr Hassan Abdul, mnipr.
“Others are: Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, mnipr, Mr. Adetola Odusote, mnipr, Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, anipr, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, anipr, Ms Mojisola Saka, anipr and Dr. Dare Ogunyombo, mnipr who will serve as Member/Secretary,” read a Sunday statement by Stanley Ogadigo Director, Public Relations.
NIPR in a letter to the immediate past president of PRCAN, Mr. Israel Opayemi, dated 21st December, 2024, appreciated him and requested his cooperation to ensure a seamless transition that is critical for the revitalization of the association.
PRCAN, which was established under the NIPR Bye-law No. 3 of 1993, titled “NIPR PR Consultancy Practice” is responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of public relations consultants across Nigeria under the supervision of the NIPR Council.
