The doors to opportunities in life often appear closed, intimidating, and unyielding. For many, the instinct is to knock—timidly seeking permission to enter. Yet, in many cases, those doors are not locked; they are simply waiting for a PUSH.

As we reflect on this metaphor, we realize that the difference between success and stagnation often lies in action.

Nigerian youths, this is your call to push forward in 2025.

Our nation is brimming with untapped potential, but too often, we wait for permission to innovate, to act, to thrive. Let this be the year we redefine how we approach challenges and opportunities.

The Problem with Knocking

Knocking represents asking for permission, waiting for validation, and hoping someone on the other side of the door acknowledges your presence. For instance:

“Sir, can I review that work for you?”—this is a knock.

“Can I intern at your organization?”—another knock.

The reality is that many of the decision-makers you seek to impress are busy scaling their empires, solving problems, and creating wealth. They may not have the time or inclination to open doors for those merely knocking. In fact, knocking might leave you standing at the door indefinitely.

The Power of Pushing

Now imagine a different scenario:

Instead of asking for permission, you boldly present your contribution: “Sir, this is my review of that work.”

Instead of waiting for an internship offer, you send a proposal demonstrating how you can add value to the organization.

This proactive approach is what it means to push. Pushing says, “I am here, ready to contribute, and I’ve already started adding value.” It shows courage, initiative, and determination—qualities that are invaluable in today’s fast-paced, competitive world.

Lessons for Nigerian Youth

Nigerian youths stand at a pivotal crossroads. With a growing population, abundant natural resources, and increasing access to technology, the potential for greatness is limitless. However, waiting for doors to be opened will not suffice.

Here’s how to push your way to success:

1. Be Solution-Oriented: Stop highlighting problems; start proposing solutions. For example, if you notice inefficiencies in a business, suggest ways to optimize them, even if you’re not yet part of the team.

2. Create Value First: Rich people, influential leaders, and decision-makers are often receptive to those who can help them scale their empires. Help others grow, and you’ll find a place within their ecosystem.

3. Take Initiative: Volunteer for responsibilities, propose ideas, and make your presence felt. Whether in school, work, or your community, the initiative will set you apart.

4. Invest in Yourself: Learn new skills, expand your knowledge, and develop a mindset that embraces challenges. When opportunity meets preparation, success follows.

5. Build Networks: Surround yourself with mentors and peers who inspire you to grow. Collaboration is often the key to opening bigger doors.

The Blueprint for 2025: PUSH

As we enter 2025, remember: knocking only gets you so far. To stand out in today’s world, you must push forward. This is not about aggression or force; it’s about showing up with solutions, offering value, and seizing the moment.

Nigeria’s future depends on its youth—on your ability to transform challenges into opportunities, to innovate boldly, and to lead with purpose. In 2025, let’s commit to pushing through barriers, creating our own opportunities, and building a brighter future for our nation.

Your PUSH is the key to unlocking greatness. The door is not locked; it’s waiting for you.

This Article can serve as a rallying cry for Nigerian youths, motivating them to adopt a proactive approach in their personal and professional lives.
