The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State has urged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop damaging its reputation with unfounded accusations and misleading propaganda.

A statement released on Friday by the State Secretary, Alhaji Yahaya Baba Pate, rejected the PDP’s claims that the ruling party was involved in an alleged assassination attempt on Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.

The APC labeled the allegations as “false and absurd,” advising the PDP to focus on its duty as a responsible opposition rather than spreading groundless accusations.

“Kaduna State continues to progress steadily, and no amount of fabricated stories or staged incidents can hinder this advancement,” the statement stated.

“The PDP in Kaduna has developed a concerning habit of making unfounded and clearly false statements, undermining the integrity of public dialogue.”

The APC pointed out that the Kaduna Police Command has not received an official complaint from Senator Usman about the alleged incident, and he has not participated in the ongoing investigations.

“Even though the police have made several efforts to contact him, he has not responded. It is perplexing how the PDP has reached its unfounded conclusion blaming the APC for this supposed incident,” the party noted.

The APC also urged Senator Usman and the PDP to collaborate with law enforcement to clarify the matter, warning that their failure to do so could raise doubts that the alleged assassination attempt is a fabricated story aimed at discrediting the APC and disturbing the peace in Kaduna State.

“The APC strongly believes that certain troublemakers are exploiting the PDP to disrupt the significant progress made through the peace efforts of Senator Uba Sani’s people-centered and inclusive leadership,” the statement continued.

The APC reiterated its commitment to the state’s development, asserting that its focus is on delivering good governance to the people of Kaduna.

“As Governor Senator Uba Sani has proclaimed, 2025 will be our Year of Fulfillment. We will not allow ourselves to be sidetracked by baseless allegations or unnecessary provocations,” the APC emphasized.

The party concluded by urging the opposition to adhere to the principles of responsible political engagement, stressing that the peace and progress of Kaduna must remain the top priority.
