The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has successfully intercepted a 40-foot trailer carrying 2,217.6 kilograms of skunk, a potent cannabis strain, in the Kagini area of Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory , FCT, Abuja.
The drugs were being offloaded into six vehicles at an abandoned fuel station when the operation took place in the early hours of Saturday, January 11, 2025.
The NDLEA’s intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of the 42-year-old suspect, Isaac Monday Desmond, at approximately 1:20 am.
As stated by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, the consignment had originated from Uzebba in the Owan Local Government Area of Edo State.

In addition to the large drug haul, the operation also resulted in the seizure of the trailer and six vehicles: a Toyota van, Toyota Camry, Toyota Sienna minibus, JAC 4-wheel-drive Hilux truck, Toyota Corolla, and a Vento Passat.
Preliminary investigations suggest the drugs were intended for distribution to northern states.
The NDLEA further reported another successful raid in the FCT, where two individuals 42-year-old Anthony Nnamdi and 27-year-old Abba Ali were arrested in Nyanya.
The officers recovered 1.398 kg of cocaine and a precursor substance used in the preparation of crack cocaine from the suspects.
The statement concludes, “The operations highlight NDLEA’s continued commitment to disrupting the illegal drug trade across Nigeria, with these significant arrests and seizures.”
