The Federal Government has announced that all visa applications will be processed online by March 1 at the latest.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made this announcement on Monday during a session on ‘X Spaces’ hosted by influencer Dr. Segun Awosanya.
Tunji-Ojo further explained that a centralized visa approval center has been established, consolidating the visa process to promote consistency, improve national security, and combat corruption.

“This visa approval center is a significant achievement for this administration, as it centralizes the visa approval process,” he said.
“This will reduce corruption, strengthen national security, and ensure uniformity in the visa regime. All visa applications will be processed online before March 1st to facilitate thorough vetting,” Tunji added.
The minister also highlighted the establishment of a harmonized data center at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex, located at the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Sauka, Abuja.
“We successfully built one of Nigeria’s largest data centers, a 8.3-petabyte facility. Prior to this, the Nigeria Immigration Service lacked a proper data center and citizens’ data was being stored privately by various contractors, which was a serious violation of the Data Protection Act.
“Nigeria cannot continue to improperly issue security documents, as it violates due process. Therefore, we set out to find a permanent solution, starting with the promise of a 1.4-petabyte data center, but ultimately delivering an 8.3-petabyte data center—one of the largest globally, he explained.”
