Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, has initiated legal action against Turkish journalist Tolga Bozduman, who accused him of assaulting him at an African restaurant two weeks ago.
The hearing for the case is set to begin today.
Osimhen, who has been excelling in the Turkish Super Lig since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has been a key player for the club, scoring goals and providing assists in both the domestic league and UEFA Europa League.
However, the striker found himself embroiled in controversy after a 3-3 draw between Galatasaray and Dynamo Kyiv two weeks ago.
Bozduman, a Turkish journalist, accused Osimhen of assaulting him when he attempted to take pictures of the striker.
The journalist claimed that Osimhen became aggressive and physically confronted him. In response, Osimhen denied the allegations, stating in a video posted by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray, “I didn’t hit the journalists; they are lying. Why are you flashing your face? You have to ask permission for an interview. I told them they had to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.”

In a new development, radio host Buchi Laba has confirmed that Osimhen is pursuing legal action against Bozduman for defamation.
The hearing is scheduled to start today.
As stated by Laba, Osimhen emphasized, “If I hit him, he’s going to get justice, and if he lied, he’s going to get the wrath of the law.”
Since joining Galatasaray last summer, Osimhen has been in remarkable form, registering 16 goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the Turkish giants.
His stellar performances have earned him widespread praise, but the recent controversy has put a temporary cloud over his successful run.
