The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has suspended the Attorney-General and Commissioner for justice, Samson Osagie, and the chairman of the state’s local government service commission, Damian Lawani, over allegations of financial misconduct.
The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor announced the immediate suspension of both officials even as the governor ordered that an investigative committee be raised to examine the allegations and provide recommendations.
The government emphasized that the suspensions are necessary to allow for a thorough investigation into the alleged financial infractions.
The committee’s findings will determine the next steps regarding the suspended officials.
