Nigerian Army troops have intensified counterterrorism operations across the Northwest and Northeast regions, dismantling terrorist networks and seizing arms, ammunition, and explosives.

In Kabaje village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops apprehended a suspect found with various drugs, medical kits, and a mobile phone containing names of individuals on a security watchlist.

In a related operation in Nasarawa village, Bukuyum Local Government Area, a notorious kidnap kingpin financing terrorism was arrested, leading to the capture of an accomplice. Investigations linked the syndicate to the abduction of Bukuyum’s Vice Chairman.

Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops recovered 57 stolen cows in Njogiri village, Bokkos Local Government Area, after responding to reports of a herder’s murder and cattle rustling.

In the Northeast, troops overran terrorist positions in Iza and Garin Asmau villages of Bama Local Government Area, Borno State, forcing insurgents to flee.

Several improvised explosive devices, IEDs, were detonated, and soldiers recovered two AK-47 rifle magazines loaded with 57 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, along with a General-Purpose Machine Gun, GPMG, barrel. Four Boko Haram family members surrendered during the operation.

Further counterterrorism efforts in Konduga Local Government Area led to an ambush at a known terrorist crossing point, neutralizing one insurgent while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Another operation in Gujba Local Government Area targeted a terrorist logistics hub, sparking an intense gun battle.

These sustained offensives by troops have disrupted terrorist activities and weakened their operational capabilities in the region.
