The National Secretary General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar has commended the Director General of State Services, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi for promoting religious harmony.

Shortly after an Iftar hosted by Ajayi in Abuja, Prof. Abubakar underscored the significance of the secret police boss’s action, saying it would go a long way in promoting religious harmony in the country.

The university don described Ajayi’s initiative to unite Muslims and Christians on a common platform as historic.

He said that despite being the son of Christian clerics, Ajayi’s gesture  demonstrated an exceptional commitment to religious tolerance. He also acknowledged the presence of the less privileged persons who were invited to the feast.

“I understand that Mr Tosin traditionally does this and empowers them, this is commendable and should be emulated”, said Prof. Abubakar who prayed for Allah’s wisdom to guide him in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

The event brought together both Muslim and Christian leaders, alongside less privileged individuals and those with special needs from across the Federal Capital Territory.

Present were notable Islamic leaders, including Bar. Harun Muhammad Eze, Imam of the National Mosque; Sheikh Dr. Tajuddeen Adigun, Chairman of the FCT Imams Committee; Imam Fuad Adeyemi of Al-Habibiyyah Mosque and Dr. Bashir Abdullahi Ismail, Imam of FOMWAN.

From the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria were Rev’d Fr. Peter Babangida Audu, Fr. Michael Banjo and Fr. Boniface Idoko.

The Christian Association of Nigeria was represented by FCT Chairman, Rev. Timothy Amakom, Revd. Sabo Yaro Adams, Revd. Canon S. Simon, Spe snr. Ap. Beneni Iyaye, Rev. Nicodemus Izuduchukwu and Ogbonife Nnamdi – GCFN.
